3 Ways You Are Overwhelming Your Dream Clients

...and how simplicity is the key.

Have you ever been in a position where you were on the phone with someone or on their website and you felt so overwhelmed with the options being presented that you found yourself shutting down?

I know this happens to me when I'm overwhelmed. This happens to all of us, whether you realize it or not. So what can you do to prevent it from happening?

Keep reading to learn 3 ways you are overwhelming your dream clients and how simplicity is the key.

Are you overwhelming your clients?

1. Too many words and not enough structure

We are inundated with words every day. I heard the number is around 100,000. That's A LOT of words. So why are more people not taking a simple approach to language?

Whether on your website or over the phone, make sure you have a concise way you describe what you do. Draw a clear map (figuratively speaking) so people understand the journey. You want people to feel crystal clear on what you do, why you do it and ultimately what's in it for them.Less is more!

2. Not having a clearly defined step-by-step process

One of the most viewed pages on our website is our work with us page that outlines our signature process. Why? Because people are desperate to understand what it will take to get from point A to point B. They want and need a clear roadmap.

Our process is 3 steps and always starts in the same place. There are a few variables along the way, but we don't deviate from our process and how we provide our services. So we won't be right for everyone, and that's okay.

However, we will be right for the RIGHT clients…our dream clients.

A simple offering that is well thought out and tailored is more powerful and attractive than doing a bit of everything.

3. Talking more than listening

When you get on the phone with a potential client your job is to listen more than you talk. Ask thoughtful questions and listen to their answers before telling them how you can help.

Understanding their challenges is important in order to mirror the language they use and tailor your words to their needs. They will feel heard and understood and this is a great way to build trust even in a short phone call.
